It's very unusual to find antique pine pieces that were not stained or 'combed' at the time of their construction to resemble some other wood.

This piece shows no evidence of stripping or other significant restoration. So this dresser base stands, as it always has, in its light tone original mellow finish. It has now been repolished in our workshops to give lustre to the grain.

Further coats of polish over time will add to the depth of the patina.

With a plate rack above, English and Welsh antique dressers separate into two parts.  Generally, they start at around 4ft wide, the majority being 5ft – 6ft.  They comprise of drawers above doors and sometimes have a central open alcove known as a dog kennel.

Pedestal desks generally separate into three parts - the top and the two supporting pedestals. For comfortable seating the vertical knee room needs to be 24".
