Our Restoration Process

All of our furniture is restored in our workshops whether it’s a full ‘makeover’, or the refinishing of a previously stripped piece. Pieces will come into stock either “in the paint” or they may have been previously stripped.

Restoring

Once items have been stripped, all the necessary woodwork is carried out. Here particular attention is paid to any moving parts eg: drawers and runners and the ease of opening and closing of any cupboard doors.

Where any wood is missing, or needs replacing, care is taken in the colour choice of old timber. So that, when the restoration is finished any work isn’t noticeable. When any catches and knobs have been replaced the item is ready for finishing.

Polishing

Sanding and polishing now brings out the figuring in the grain and gives the finished piece its vitality of colour.
